The Magnolia String Quartet of CT was established in 2004. The members of our quartet; Carole Walker, contractor and violist, Jennifer Trahan, 1st violin, Jennifer Brown, 2nd violin, Naida Rosenfeld, 2nd violin alternate, and Susan Jimenez, cello; all play professionally in various orchestras and chamber groups. As a quartet, we have played at numerous corporate and civic events as well as weddings and receptions throughout the New England area.

Bios


Carole Walker owns and operates Walker Strings Studio in Milford where she teaches Suzuki violin, viola and piano. She earned a BA in Music and English from Middlebury College, and a MA in Music and an MAT in Music Teaching from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ms. Walker has performed with the RI Philharmonic, the Waterbury Symphony, and the Norwalk Symphony, among others, and also plays ‘rock’, ‘country’ and ‘bluegrass’ violin with various local groups. In addition, she has taught both strings and band in the Westport, Fairfield, and Redding Public School Systems.


Jennifer Trahan, of Milford, has a BA in Violin Performance from Ohio University and an MA from the Manhattan School of Music. Ms. Trahan was Assistant Music Director at the Suzuki Music School of Westport from 1999 to 2005. In 2005 she created the Talent Education Suzuki School in Norwalk, where she taught all ages and levels, with a focus on developing her teaching philosophy for the advanced student. She currently owns Ms. Jen’s Violin Studio in Milford and is a sectional coach with the Greater Bridgeport Youth Symphonies.


Susan Jimenez, of Fairfield received her BA in Cello Performance from the University of Cincinnati, and her MA from the City College of New York. Ms Jimenez has performed in orchestras throughout Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, and Wisconsin, and is currently a cellist with both the Greater Bridgeport Symphony and the Waterbury Symphony. She conducts the Norwalk Youth Symphony Prelude Orchestra, teaches strings in the Fairfield Public Schools, and Suzuki cello at the Neighborhood Music School.


Jennifer Brown, BM and MM in Violin Performance from Wichita State University, is a substitute section member of the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the Mendelssohn Choir, Wichita Symphony, Opera Kansas Orchestra, and Newton Mid-Kansas Symphony Orchestra. A participant in guest violin and chamber music classes, most notably with the Vermeer String Quartet, she currently maintains a private studio in Fairfield County and coaches sectionals for the Norwalk Symphony.


Naida Rosenvald, born and educated in Russia, received a postgraduate degree from Kazan Conservatory. She played violin with the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra for eight years, followed by a position at the Moscow Opera Theater. Ms. Rosenvald also has been a member of the New York City based Vremena Goda String Quartet from 2011 to the present.
